Politicianisme celebre – Harold Macmillan

Britain’s most useful role is somewhere between bee and dinosaur – Cel mai util rol al Marii Britanii este undeva intre albina si dinozaur.

It has been said that there is no fool like an old fool, except a young fool. But the young fool has first to grow up to be an old fool to realize what a damn fool he was when he was a young fool – Se spune ca nu e niciun prost mai prost ca prostul batran, cu exceptia celui tanar.

A man who trusts nobody is apt to be the kind of man nobody trusts – Un om care nu are incredere in nimeni are potential sa fie un om in care nu are nimeni incredere.

No man should ever lose sleep over public affairs – Niciun om n-ar trebui sa-si piarda somnul din cauza treburile publice.

To be alive at all involves some risk – Simplul fapt de a fi in viata presupune un risc.

At home, you always have to be a politician; when you’re abroad, you almost feel yourself a statesman – Acasa trebuie sa fii intotdeauna un politician; in strainatate aproape ca te simti ca un om de stat.

We have not overthrown the divine right of kings to fall down for the divine right of experts – N-am doborat dreptul divin al regilor ca sa fim la randul nostru doborati de dreptul divin al expertilor.
